Taiwan 's competitive and dynamic economy has brought unprecedented prosperity. The people is vigorously promoting economy and upgrading Taiwan 's industries. Taiwan into a "green sustainable island" must be based on environmental protection.

  The economic increased rapidly, trends towards non-sustainable economic development and globalization led to a further deterioration in the quality of ours environment. The further deterioration can be seen in the rapid reduction in natural habitats and number of species and recyclable resources, such as fresh water, forests, topsoil, ocean fishes, and the poorer quality of rivers and waters. Moreover, the problem of poverty continued to expand, and ineffective application and transfer of greening technique in developing countries have also led to a further deterioration in the global environmental condition. We aimed at implementation of sustainable development. This webpage discussions on sustainable development topics, such as water resources, energy, health, elimination of poverty, agricultural resources and biodiversity under the trend of globalization. We would endeavor to achieve the goal of environmental protection.

  Sustainable development had been defined as “the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the development of the future generations.” Sustainable development must be based on the three principles of environmental protection, economic development, and social justice. The scope of sustainable development covers land resources, water resources, energy, agriculture, marine resources, environmental protection, health risks, education, social welfare, town and country development, economic development, technological development, and international cooperation. Taiwan ’s high population density, limited land and natural resources, high frequency of natural disasters, all force her to pursue sustainable development more actively than anywhere.

  To implement the research of sustainable environment, we would be the goal of harmonizing environmental protection, bringing about a sustainable earth and carrying out the duty of a responsible member of the global village.
